Hamas wins in Gaza against Israel

As the Israeli invasion further into Palestine, which they started almost 40 years ago, comes to a close due to the general public’s boredom with the news after 3 weeks, it is obvious that the State of Israel is the loser and the bifurcated State of Palestine is the winner.

Hamas has accepted the Egypt-brokered truce treaty, which has Israeli diplomats in Egypt to finalize.  Hamas has said in recent years that they now accept the State of Israel, but want them evicted from Palestinian lands as decreed my a multitude of international edicts over the past 4 decades.  Hamas also wants Israel to remove the siege on imported goods, and wants Israel to offer the “Right of Return” to Palestinians who wish to return to Israel.

The Old Media in the U.S. is still relatively silent on the Palestinian side of the conflict, but thanks to New Media bloggers and international paleomeda outlets, we have a more balanced report of what has happened with Israel’s push to invade further into Palestine.  Thanks to the New Media bloggers and the international paleomedia outlets, we now know:

  1. The Hamas fired rockets into Israel do little damage, and kill almost no one because they’re based on shoddy old technology that is impossible to aim.  A dozen or so Israelis have died in as many years from these rockets, versus thousands of Palestinians, many women and children, from just 3 weeks of recent Israel’s war crimes.
  2. The public also knows that Israel has illegally and criminally occupied Palestinian lands that have been granted to Palestine through international agreements and accords.  Israel has evicted the rightful landowners, bulldozed thousands of homes and businesses, and planted Israelis into these territories against U.N. and international edict.
  3. We all are aware of Israel’s horrific siege on Palestine, which has kept medical supplies, food and other products from reaching Palestinian civilians.
  4. We know that Israel has bombed schools, mosques and even U.N. medical centers, using “terrorism” as a reason for killing innocents
  5. We are familiar with the fact that Palestine has created underground tunnels in order to get food and medicine into the country, the very tunnels that Israel has been trying to destroy.
  6. We also know that Hamas, a supposed “terrorist organization” was the first democratically elected party in Palestine in just and fair elections, and that Hamas as an organization spends more than 80% of their money on medicine, food, education, and welfare for their people.

Even with the great loss of life, infrastructure, and popularity amongst its people, Hamas has won this part of the war.  Only in the United States do we still have a high percentage of confused people who think Hamas is a terrorist organization, and that Palestine is in the wrong for defending its territory against the foreign aggressor.  Thanks to the Internet, we know have more of the truth.  Israel will have to bow to internationational pressure, withdraw from Palestinian lands, stop the useless and criminal siege and warfare on civilians, and abdicate Palestinian control to the democratically elected party, Hamas.

Still, I support neither side of this war.  Hamas has no reason to bomb Israel when they should just be targeting the intruders and trespassers in Palestinian lands.  It is wrong for them to do so, even if the ends justified the means.  Israel should pay close attention to the New Media: there are too many of us to keep us all quiet.  Information travels too quicly, from cell phone cameras to the Internet, and from the Internet to tens of thousands of amateur and professional journalists with sites like the one you’re reading.

From my perspective, it is always great for the underdog to beat the tyrant.  We can only hope that Hamas, and Palestine, does not venture into the same title of Tyrant as many States have.  I fear, though, that this will be the case.
